2) Now, it is time to prime the door. It is recommended to use a tinted stain blocking primer. When priming, first prime all the edges, then the panel bevels and flats, then the rails, then the stile middles, and finally the stiles. After the primer has dried, it is a good idea to sand it lightly. The key is to do it gently. Finall, you can apply the finish coat.

1) The first step to painting trim is to use a TSP solution to remove reside. Also, during this step make sure to remove all chipped paint. You can also sand the wood with first a coarser sand paper and finish the sanding with a finer one.

2) Now, fill holes  with crack filler and let it dry. You should also fill the cracks between trim pieces with printable caulk. When this is ready, make sure to prime any knots or resin pockets. 

3) After masking all adjacent surfaces, prime the entire surface with a stain blocking primer and after letting it dry, use a 220 grit sandpaper. Apply the finish coat with a slim brush. Finally, you can remove the masking tape while the paint is still wet.
